Verify the service before relying on it
- Confirm the owner. Record the agency, municipality, nonprofit, or provider that operates the service; a directory publisher may only route the listing.
- Confirm who and where it serves. Ask about location, age, household, income, insurance, referral, immigration, disability, or other eligibility only when the provider identifies it as relevant.
- Confirm today's access. Check hours, appointment or walk-in rules, language, accessibility, documents, waitlist, cost, and whether the program has capacity.
- Preserve the response. Record the page, date, contact, confirmation, case or reference number, and next step supplied by the responsible organization.
PR.gov is useful for official routing, but individual panels can remain online after a campaign ends. Use the identified directory or help-line section, then continue to the responsible agency's current page rather than relying on an unrelated promotional panel. [1]
