Identify the manager before planning the visit

Run a current-access check
- Open the manager's alert page. Read the update date, affected area, start and end date, closure order, and contact rather than relying on a search-result excerpt.
- Check the weather and hazard source. Rain, heat, lightning, surf, flooding, fire danger, and tropical conditions can change access and safety on the day of the visit.
- Confirm the entry rules. Verify parking, capacity, hours, fees, reservations, permits, pets, camping, group size, accessibility, and prohibited activity for the exact site.
- Carry the route and exit plan. Save the official map and contact information for use when connectivity is limited, and leave enough time to comply with closure times.
- Follow posted protections. Stay within open areas and comply with the manager's wildlife, vegetation, waste, fire, water, and cultural-resource rules.
