Read the source's clock and geography
- Identify the product. A forecast, watch, warning, observation, sample result, earthquake event, closure, and government status panel answer different questions.
- Read every relevant time. Note issued, observed, sampled, valid, last-updated, start, and end times; do not replace them with the date this guide was reviewed.
- Match the geography. Confirm forecast zone, coast, municipio, beach station, road, trail, facility, or event area before applying the result.
- Look for supersession. Open the current landing page and determine whether a newer advisory, notice, event revision, or cancellation replaced the result found in search.
- Follow the responsible authority. Local evacuation, closure, lifeguard, emergency, and land-manager directions control over an evergreen summary.
